“I started dancing, when I started walking”
Benjamin Millepied founded the LA Dance project and was the Director of Dance at the Paris Opera Ballet. In New York, he discusses the moments that made him.
— My Defining Moment?
‘I always remember "Midsummer Night's Dream": when it starts the whole theater goes black. You’re about to do this very difficult dance, but you can see the entire audience. I always loved that moment. It's like the calm before the storm because usually you don't see the audience, but right there ... right before "Midsummer" begins, you have this moonlit view of the theatre. That's a very magical moment.’
“I want my dancers to be people who dance, not dancers who dance”
